DESCRIPTION:Step into the layered story of Astoria\, where river\, sea\, and hillside converge\, on a guided walking tour through the Downtown Astoria Historic District. Offered weekly by the Lower Columbia Preservation Society\, these tours explore the architectural heritage\, working waterfront history\, and civic ambitions that shaped Oregon's oldest American settlement.\n\n\n\nTours are point-to-point\, beginning at the Astoria Nordic Heritage Park and concluding at the Flavel House Museum\, traversing approximately ten blocks over the course of 90 minutes. Along the way\, participants encounter landmark commercial buildings\, vernacular streetscapes\, and stories of industry\, immigration\, and resilience that continue to define Astoria's character.\n\n?\n\nWalking tours are offered Sundays\, from Mother's Day through mid-October\, and are led by knowledgeable LCPS volunteer guides with deep ties to local history and preservation advocacy. Each tour emphasizes both architectural observation and the broader cultural context of the place inviting participants to see familiar streets with fresh eyes.
