Scrimshaw is often considered one of the first folk arts in the U.S. Whaling ships based on the East Coast during the 1700s and 1800s used this art as a way to pass the time onboard long voyages. Join this presentation in the Ford Room for a description of this era of whaling and scrimshaw's impact both culturally and environmentally. Included with museum admission.
